Born December 11, 1861 on a farm in Harrod, Ohio
     married Eva Candice Thomas in 1890
     had three sons:

BA in 1889 from Ohio Northern in Ada, Ohio
Professor American History at Northern until 1896
Law degree from Ohio Northern in 1894
Dean of Law School from 1896 to 1900
Vice-president of the University from 1900 to 1902
President Antioch College in Yellow Springs in 1907
Elected U. S. Congress in 1912, 6th Ohio district
Elected to the U.S. Senate from Ohio in 1922
    A staunch prohibitionist, he worked for women's
    suffrage, child-labor laws, workman's comp.
    minimum wage legislation and other reforms.
In 1928, he became Republican Senate Whip

FACTOID


     Simeon D. Fess's son, Lowell Thomas was elected to the Ohio State Senate for five terms.

      His son, Hamilton Lehr was elected to the Sixth Ohio District Court of Appeals.
      He is remembered by many attorneys as he wrote a four volume treatise "Ohio Instructions to Juries."
      His son, Hamilton added the middle name "Lehr," according to his daughter, Claire.

     Simeon's father, Henry, died when Simeon was four years old and Simeon was raised by his older sister, Elizabeth, "Lizzie" Brown.
